Bio
Dustin Hillard joined Microsoft in 2010, his research focuses on improving speech understanding for mobile applications and XBox Kinect. Prior to Microsoft, Dustin was at Yahoo! for three years, where his research focused on improving ad relevance, with the goal of improving user experience for Yahoo! Search. He had the privilege of collaborating with the great researchers at Yahoo! Labs to develop innovative features and modeling approaches. Before coming to Yahoo! his research in graduate school focused on automatic speech recognition and statistical translation. He incorporates approaches from these and other fields to learn from massive amounts of data with supervised, semi-supervised, and unsupervised machine learning approaches. Dustin received a PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of Washington.
